Ten Thousand Laptops Gone Missing Led Jens to ServiceNow

Sometimes your career takes a turn you never expected.

That’s exactly what happened to Jens Damhøj Andersen, now a ServiceNow Expert at Adeno.

After 25 years in the Danish Armed Forces—where structure, precision, and careful planning were part of everyday life—he transitioned to the IT department at the Capital Region of Denmark. But while everything in the military ran like clockwork, the reality in IT was quite different.

One of the first things handed to him was a list with more than 10,000 laptops.

That’s how many the region purchased each year. But what happened to the old ones?

“No one really knew. Some were reused, some sold or scrapped—but there was no central oversight. Everyone handled it differently depending on where you looked in the organization.”

That’s when Jens started diving into asset management—and discovered ServiceNow. He quickly saw how the platform could bring order to the chaos. And that sparked his move into consulting.

“I kept seeing the same problems across different organizations: lack of structure, unclear processes, and disconnected systems. It was all very familiar from my time in the military. As a consultant, I can step in early and help prevent those problems from growing.”

In many cases, it’s that lack of structure that stops organizations from getting the full value out of their IT systems.

“That’s why I love being a consultant. Coming in with a fresh perspective, I can quickly see what’s missing. My job is to make sure there’s a clear plan from the start—so responsibilities are defined, and systems actually support the work. I focus on building structure and collaboration, so everything runs smoother.”

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing stories from our talented team members who’ve made the leap into consulting.

Stay tuned!
